Part 160: Gladiator, Match 2: The Masked Madman Vs. Karl the Boss
Gladiator, Match 2: The Masked Madman Vs. Karl the BossLast time on the adventures of the Faris, the Masked Madman, we visited the Wind Shrine and flash-fried an overgrown vulture. Let's go look for our next match. Gotta keep those ratings up!
Holy crap, this one guy built an entire canal? The organizer in me wants to arrange a fight between him and Faris (Think of the ratings!), but I'm worried even he couldn't beat this guy in ba-
Oooh, and there are wild beasts in the canal? That, on the other hand, would be a much less risky venture that might pay off even more! (1 man against one hundred rabid octopi!)
Okay, scratch that line about this Zok being a formidable fighter. If he can't keep track of a lousy key, he clearly doesn't have the focus and attention that a gladiator needs.
Wait, hold on, he was just hiding it, that's still an option. Anyhow, canal filled with monsters, next location is past it, let's mosey.
Nevermind then, the monsters here are a complete joke(That was after one hit). Well, this lead was a bust, I guess we'll contin-
Wait a sec, "sealed monster"!? There we go, now I got something to work with! Get those cameras set up, 'cuz it's time for:

Producer's note: Since Faris didn't oneshot the boss this time, we've considered it prudent to include the strategy that Karlabos is using here:
code:
LEVEL: 5 EXP: 0 HP: 650 GIL: 0 MP: 100 SPEED: 30 ATTACK: 10 MAGIC POWER: 0 ATT. MULT: 4 MAGIC MULT: 4 EVADE%: 0 MAGIC EVADE%: 0 DEFENSE: 0 MAGIC DEFENSE: 10 ELEMENTAL IMMUNITY: None STATUS IMMUNITY: Dead, Stone, Toad, Mini, Float, Poison, Zombie, Darkness, Aging, Sleep, Paralyze, Charm, Berserk, Mute, Image(2), Image(1) ELEMENTAL ABSORB: None CAN'T EVADE: None ELEMENTAL WEAKNESS: Lightning CREATURE TYPE: Heavy IMMUNITY: Control, Catch INITIAL STATUS: None SPECIALTY: Tentacle SPECIALTY EFFECT: Adds Paralyze SPELLS: Tailscrew CONTROL: Can't BLUE MAGIC: None CATCH: Can't DROP (ALWAYS): Tent STEAL (COMMON): Potion DROP (RARE): Nothing STEAL (RARE): Nothing AI SCRIPT: {Fight,Specialty,Specialty} {Fight,Tailscrew,Specialty} {Fight,Tailscrew,Specialty}
Specialty, of course, refers to Feeler, a nasty little attack that inflicts paralyze. You've seen it explained 13-something times already why this is a bad thing for a solo fighter, and shenanigans like this are what led to the first two defeats of Faris. Thankfully, third time was the charm, with Faris pulling off that brutal elemental strike that ended the boss before its third turn.
And there you have it, folks! Tune in next time for a shocking revelation, and not one, not two, but THREE exciting matches!
(Sorry for the short update this time, next one will be longer, I promise. Also, you may have noticed that for this second update, a narrative gimmick showed up out of nowhere. Do you like, do you not? This IS my first LP, so feedback is very much appreciated!)
